Trekking in Mount Kazbek Area


Day 1. Arrive in Tbilisi. You will be met at the airport and taken to the star hotel in the city center. Depending the arrival time we will do 2-2,5 hours walking tour in with visits to the Old Town, or just short visit of the city in the evening. Hotel.



Day 2. Drive to Mtskheta, the ancient capital of Georgia. Scientists date the town back to the 2nd millennium B.C. The town and its architectural monuments are included in the World's Cultural Heritage of UNESCO. Visit the town and continue our drive along Georgian Military Highway to Kazbegi region and the village Juta (2150m, beautifully situated in the Sno Valley.

From here two hours trek takes to the campsite in Chaukhi Mountain. The vertical
800 meter face of Chaukhi Massif, hanging above our campsite, is one of the
challenging rock climbing destinations in the Caucasus. Night in the tents at
about 2500m.



Day 3. Today we plan to walk up to the circus of Chaukhi Mountains (2-3 hrs walk up). Enjoy views of rocky peaks surrounded the circus. Return to the camp for overnight.



Day 4. Walk up good paths towards to the Chaukhi Pass at 3430m (4-5 hrs walk up). The pass provides panorama views of the Caucasian Mountains and picturesque scenery of the Chaukhi Massif’s North Face. Return to the camp.



Day 5. Climb easy ascended trekking peak Mukhadze, 3289m (4-5 hrs walk up). Return to the camp.



Day 6. About 1,5 hrs walk down to the village Juta and drive to the Kazbegi settlement (at 1700m).
Kazbegi is a small town nestled among Caucasian Mountains, the highest and most famous of which is Mt. Kazbek (5047m), one of the five 5000 meter peaks in the Caucasus.
For the lunch visit one of the local’s families and taste some of the local dishes. Hotel.



Day 7. Walk up to Gergeti Trinity Church, beautifully situated on the hill (2100m)
overlooking the area. Continue walking to the Sabertse pass 3150m Enjoy
excellent views of Mt. Kazbek. According to the legend, Prometheus was chained
on the Mount Kazbek. Return to the hotel in Kazbegi. Totally 7-8 hours walking
day. Hotel.



Day 8. Drive to the hotel in Tbilisi. In the afternoon we go for small tour in the old town visiting souvenir shops and probably testing Georgian wine.
In the evening Farewell dinner. Hotel.



Day 9. Transfer to the airport for the departure home.
